Going On An Adventure - Monday with Mommy

I'm interrupting everything I'm behind on to go on an adventure with Bubba.
My days at home with him may come to an end soon, so we aren't taking for granted the days we do have together.

I am currently working 20 hours a week, 5 hours Tuesday night, 5 hours Wednesday night, and 10 hours on Saturday. Which means:
A) Zachary does not have to go to Day Care
B) Saturday is really the only day I have to be away from him
C) I have basically the whole week to do things that I WANT to do instead of being consumed by a job that takes up my entire life

But my current position is temporary. At the end of March, they may extend it, or they may not. There is also a chance that different positions will become available that I can apply for which means my work schedule would most likely change, drastically.

It was never my intention to be a stay-at-home-mom. That was my dream, but not what we had planned. When it came time for me to start thinking about going back to work after my Maternity leave, I realized I just wasn't ready. I still felt like Zachary needed me so much, especially because at that point he was still crying for 90% of the day and we had no idea why. A month after I resigned my position I got a call to come back to work, but only part time, and on a temporary basis.

The bank has been flexible with my hours and for that we are so very grateful. I also now get to work out of the Mt. Vernon office instead of Bellingham which shaves about an hour off of my total commute time. That's an entire hour per work day that I get to spend with Zachary instead of on the road.

But knowing that this could possible all change in a matter of weeks has really inspired me to make the most of my time at home. I know that pretty soon, this schedule may change and that my time at home may be half of what it is now.

So Zachary and I are finding ways to get out and enjoy each day. To not be constantly stuck in our routine at home, but instead go out and make memories. To meet up with friends, to find new places, to be at the park as much as possible, and to live.

So instead of catching up on laundry, cleaning, dusting (well, let's face it, who's ever caught up on dusting?) and my list of "Things To Do", I decided to pack up and head out with Zachary today.

We didn't have an agenda, just to spend time together.

The first stop on our adventure was visiting my dad at work - Zachary loves his "Pa"!

He loved seeing all of Pa's tools and pictures of himself on Pa's locker. He also got to meet "Ross the Boss" (my dad's boss) and I could tell my dad was so proud to show off his grandson!

Next, we went consignment browsing. I'm somehow always amazed at how overpriced consignment stores are in this area. But it's still fun to look. We're kind-of on the hunt for a jogging stroller, but I'm a Super-Frugal-Deal-Finding-Machine so I won't settle until I find the best deal. The one that I REALLY want is a Phil and Ted's Explorer single jogging stroller with double attachment. That's right, I said you can attach a second seat. How sweet!? I actually found one today, but it was priced only $50 under retail price which isn't even close to a good enough deal.

So we headed off to the mall.

Initially I was just going to walk, but like I said, I'm a Super-Frugal-Deal-Finding-Machine which means I just HAD to look. And of course, I founds some good deals :)

I got 7 long sleeve shirts and 4 pairs of pants (including a pair of jeans) for Z for $28. He is entirely clothed through 24 months and mostly clothed through 3T. Praise God for good deals!

After a little bit of time at the Children's Museum we decided we better head home to get dinner ready.

And since it's Monday, we got to spend the evening with our favorite girl Chloe. (Notice the outfit change... we had a "leak" when we got home)

It was such an incredible day, Zachary was so happy and we had so much fun together. I love being able to spend these days with my son. We're hoping the weather clears up soon so our adventures can take us outdoors, and we're hoping we still get to spend these days together after this month. But until then, we'll enjoy getting out of our routine any way we can!
